Hand-picked from Google Earth
Your name, written across India.
I spent weeks scrolling over India looking for letters — a river that bends into an S, a dam wall shaped like a T, fields that make a perfect O. Type your name and I'll spell it with the places I found.
How it works
Type your name
Any name up to 12 letters. Each letter is matched to a real place in India that looks like it from above.
Tap a letter
Every frame tells you where it is — the state, the district, the coordinates — and opens on the map.
Shuffle, save, share
Most letters have more than one place. Shuffle for a new mix, download it as an image, or share the link.
Letters I found so far
28 frames covering 23 of 26 letters — and still looking.
Why I built this
It started with NASA's “Your Name in Landsat”, a little site that spells your name with satellite photos from around the world. I loved it — but I kept wondering what it would look like if every letter came from India.
So I opened Google Earth and started looking, state by state. No AI, no automatic shape detection — just zooming, panning and taking a screenshot every time something looked like a letter. Some came quickly. Others took days of searching, and a few letters are still missing.
Along the way I learned more about India's geography than I did in school: how rivers in flat plains meander, how canals split farmland into grids, how a single dam can change the shape of a valley.
Questions people ask
Is this the same as NASA's “Your Name in Landsat”?+
No, but it was the spark. NASA's version uses Landsat photos from all over the world. This one is only India, and every letter was found by hand by scrolling through Google Earth.
Are these real places?+
Yes. Every letter is a real spot in India — a river bend, a lake, a canal, a dam or a field. Tap any letter to see where it is and open it on the map.
Where do the images come from?+
They are screenshots I took in Google Earth while exploring India from above. The imagery belongs to Google and its data providers, and the credit is kept on every frame.
What does natural and man-made mean here?+
Natural letters were shaped by rivers, wind, rock and water over thousands of years. Man-made letters are things people built — dams, canals, roads, farms, runways — that only show their shape from the sky.
Can I download my name?+
Yes. After spelling your name, tap Download PNG to save it as an image for personal use, like a wallpaper, a gift or a social post.
Why does a letter sometimes show a plain tile?+
I haven't found a good enough shape for that letter yet. The atlas is growing, and new frames are added as I find them.
Can I spell names in Hindi or other Indian scripts?+
Not yet — only English letters A to Z for now. Devanagari is on the wish list.
